Please take note of some updates to the Subreddit Rules:
New Rule Welcome to Rule 9: Period product related posts are only allowed on Menstruation Mondays.
Posts asking about how to use period related products, recommendations for products, questions about difficulty using products, etc are only allowed on Mondays.
Update to Rule 7: No general "Glow Up" posts. Posts must ask a specific question. General "why am I ugly" or "am I ugly" type posts are not allowed. Specific questions like "how could I improve my eyebrows" "How to reduce having frizzy hair" or "help with reducing ingrown hairs" would be allowed. But as usual, only on Fridays.
Update to Rule 6: Clarification that all posts related to undergarments (bras and underwear) are only allowed on Wardrobe Wednesday. Also no "what's my body type" posts allowed.
Update to Rule 4: Questions asking about why an individual is having difficulty dating or similar topics are not allowed.
Automod is being worked on to help with these rule updates, but it is far from perfect. Posts may still get made that break the rules and that's where you the users come into play.
REPORT POSTS THAT BREAK RULES.
Reporting posts helps them be reviewed and possibly removed if they break the rules more quickly.

I (22F) had been talking to a guy for 2-3 months.we used to text each other constantly all day. We only went out three times because we're both extremely busy. From the start, we agreed this couldn't go long-term, since I'm moving away for my master's in a couple of months.
On our third date, things got more intense and we slept together. That night he asked about my hesitations around getting into a serious relationship. I told him I was afraid of commitment, and looking back, I probably came across as more careless or nonchalant than I meant to. We still ended the day on good terms.
Afterward, though, communication dwindled. He still texted the way he usually did, but only if I started the conversation. After a few days of noticing this, I brought it up calmly, saying I didn't want to make it a big deal but it had crossed my mind. He apologized, but said we couldn't get attached and that my expectations seemed to be rising. He tried to start conversations now and then, but it felt forced, nothing like before. Eventually he stopped replying altogether. I took the hint and haven't reached out since.
What makes this harder is that he didn't seem like a player. He came across as genuine, and he didn't start any suggestive texting until a month in. He was also honestly my type down to the T. I keep wondering whether I said or did something wrong without realizing it, but I'll never know unless he tells me.
I also feel confused about being this upset. It wasn't a relationship, we both knew it had an expiry date, and there was no breakup. So do I even have the right to feel this bad? With my low self-esteem and tendency to overthink, this has left me feeling jaded.

I have no idea why but once 4pm rolls by it feels like my day is over. i’m automatically demotivated to do anything. i’m tired and need a nap but I still want to enjoy my day. idk if it’s depression or what. its 4pm, I feel like I wasted my day even though I didn’t, and all I want to do is sleep and scroll. idk if it’s my social media addiction, depression, or if I just get sleepy around this time. I would love to take a nap but I can never get myself to take less than a 30 minute nap, it can turn into anywhere between 1-3 hour nap. does anyone else feel like this?

Hi ladies!
I'm not sure what exactly I'm trying to get out of this discussion, but as the title says, I was wondering how often you girls go out with friends, talk to them on the phone or attend events with them like concerts, raves, dinners, birthdays, etc.? I'm asking because me and my roommate have completely different life styles, and it's been making me wonder if my life is just not that eventful, or if I'm normal and she's just crazy (in a good way lol).
I'd say I have on average 1 social thing with friends per week (eg. an activity night, girls night out, birthday party, etc.) and I play sports with different friends twice a week which is a good, consistent way to see them. I also go to 3-5 cottage trips and travel once every year with different friends too. However, I don't talk to anyone on the phone (I've never been a phone person, and I feel like I don't have close girl friends who like to yap like that), and I don't rave (but I do go to concerts sometimes).
I've always thought that I had a fairly healthy social life, but my roommate - who I'm super close with, is on another level.
She literally goes out almost every day. She'll wake up, be on the phone with her friend, end the call, then during the day she'll have like 2-3 more phone calls with her cousins/other female friends. She always has dinner plans, social plans, party plans, night time plans, etc. almost every single day. She's close friends with the owner of a bar so she frequents the bar often to hang out and that's become her social hub multiple times a week. There's been multiple times when she comes home at like 5am because she had back-to-back plans that night. If she has no plans, she'll call someone up and ask to get dinner, drinks, or tell them to come over to ours to hang out and catch up.
I've thought about if I'm jealous of her lifestyle, or if her lifestyle just makes me feel like a loser in comparison which makes it hard for me to love my life. Obviously comparison is the thief of joy but living under the same roof as someone and constantly hearing/seeing how busy they are is hard to ignore.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this :)
Edit: made a few details more vague in case she stumbles upon this lol

Obligatory recognition: I understand not everyone can be naked; privacy issues etc.
Anyways… I’ve always loved being naked. Not in a sexual sense but it just helped me feel more in tune with my body. It helps me feel less restricted.
I don’t necessarily have an ideal body shape; I have a lot of insecurities about my body.
But I’ve noticed that being naked, seeing my own female nudity in a non voyeuristic or sexual way has made me feel more comfortable in my own skin.
Some of the insecurities that I see women talk about have rarely crossed my mind, and I think that part of it is because I regularly view those “flaws” on my own body, and instead of viewing those as flaws I view them as simply features of a body because, my body is a normal body.
I remember discovering that people were insecure about “hip dips” or “outie” labia, or armpit discoloration, and it honestly didn’t really affect me because I’ve been seeing all those things on myself for YEARS. And yet, my body worked just fine!
It may not be the case for everybody, and it may feel weird, but if you can I’d encourage you to try it.
Exist without clothes and bras and girdles hiding certain parts of your body. Let the “ugly” parts of yourself out and you might find it’s not as scary or daunting or horrific as people have made it out to be.
Let your body exist in its natural state and you might find that your body is just… a body. Not something to be compared and picked apart, despite what the world is telling us.
The world has been telling us to be insecure about our bodies since we were little girls. There are trillion dollar industries dedicated to creating more insecurities and expectations so that we spend money and time trying to fix something that’s not even broken.

So basically I went to all girls schools throughout middle and high school and I never really had any male friends growing up. Even when I did, they were usually gay, so I never really got used to interacting with straight guys.
Now that I'm in business school, there are actually way more guys than girls and I have to communicate with them pretty much every time we have group work. The prob is that I get nervous and anxious without even realizing it. I end up holding myself back and not saying things I actually want to say, even when I have ideas or opinions that I want to share.
What's frustrating is that even when there are some girls in the group, I still feel nervous. It's not necessarily that I'm scared of guys or that I think they're all judging me. I just feel awkward and over conscious of myself around them, and I hate that it affects too much how I act.
The worst part is that there are genuinely a lot of nice guys at my school and I'd actually like to get to know some of them and become friends. But I feel like I'm missing out on opportunities to connect with people simply because I get so awkward and nervous around them and it's frustrating because they're really nice but my body just makes me feel frozen around them or uncomfortable.
How do I get more comfortable interacting with guys? I really do want to stop overthinking everything and just be myself around them but I don't know how to get there.

Im 24. Im currently going to school to be an embalmer, mt dream career. I currently working as a funeral attendant making $18 an hour but only getting 25 hours a week. I finally got a second job that pays $20 an hour, put having 2 jobs and school is exhausting. I hate that im like this but I have a friend who makes 10k a month! She's able to own her own apartment. When I heard how much she makes it instantly felt a deep pit in my stomach, shes also the same age as me. Im so envious, I wish I was able to live on my own. Ive never been great at school, im trying to learn and accept that im just not so smart and I should just try to enjoy each day with what I have. Its hard to know there are people out there who can survive on their own, i grew up very poor so this jealousy for rich people has always been there but it gets worse with each year. Anyone else struggle with this feeling?

I'm a trans woman and I guess I was basically the opposite of comphet for a while? And now I'm dating men and I just have no idea how to open conversations on the apps and get to the point of a first date with them. I feel like once I've gotten to that point I do a lot better in person and it's back to the normal issues with dating in this day and age for the most part.
I also am wondering if I should do my bio differently bc with women I always had it purely just normal, nice pictures and actual info/prompt responses and I felt like that lead to a lot of good connections, but with men it feels like they don't engage with that as much. Do I just need to have all of the pictures be super dressed up and/or hot? Or am I just taking too long to show interest in meeting up or something?
I can accept that I'm trans and have high standards for a partner so it's going to take a lot of wading to find someone, but I feel like I'm actually missing a step or something I could do differently here.

I (28F) left my job of 5 years in May in order to travel and start a new life with my partner in another country. I worked leading on strategy, marketing and communications and logistics for a small social enterprise. I loved the creative freedom, trust and seniority I had in my role but it took a lot from me and was relatively thankless, as well as entirely life consuming (sleepless nights, constant fight/flight and unhealthy coping mechanisms due to the intense demands of the role and people we helped).
I’m now living in a new country with no job and can’t work until December due to visa restrictions. I have no idea which direction to head in next. I’m good at what I do but the thought of going back to it fills me with dread and imposter syndrome.

My sister and I have a 10 year age gap. I think my sister tends to baby me a lot. Which is by virtue of nature and because our dad was a deadbeat asshole and our mom too was emotionally immature. I saw that a lot of the posts and videos are mainly about "how to be a good/better/best older sister" but I think most of you are the last person to need a guide! You are literally as perfect as a full moon on a starry night (or at least I can say my sister is(!) since I cannot account for all situations worldwide on my own).
I want to be like a friend to her, or at least someone she can share stuff to without thinking that I couldn't handle the stress of it
I would appreciate any general tips from older AND younger sisters in general just as long as you think it will be helpful for me ^^
My sister is married and we live almost 2 hours away from each other and I visit her at least twice a month during which I also stay with her for 2 days.

I used to hide from every camera.
Family gatherings, vacations, even just regular days at home, I’d turn my face away, make excuses or just flat out refuse. I hated how I looked and was convinced every photo would just prove it.
Then my dad passed away.
When we started going through old pictures, I realized how few recent ones I actually had with him. Most of the photos from the last few years of his life don’t include me at all.
Looking back, no one was judging my face or body the way I thought they were. The only person who really lost out was me.
So if you’re still dodging the camera because you don’t feel pretty enough that day, take the picture anyway.
The imperfect ones are the ones you’ll end up cherishing the most when someone’s no longer around.
Don’t wait until it’s too late.

I started doing this after my first performance review at a previous job, when my manager asked what I was proud of from the past year and my brain supplied approximately three facts, all from the previous month.
Meanwhile I had spent the year fixing messy processes, training a new person, covering work during two absences, catching an expensive mistake before it went out to a client, writing documentation nobody had asked for but everybody later used, and handling a bunch of small problems that disappeared precisely because I handled them.
I remembered maybe 20% of it in the room.
Now I keep one private note called "DONE." Once or twice a week I dump things into it. Not beautifully. Usually just one line each:
Fixed X before deadline.
Client specifically thanked me for Y.
Made template for Z.
Covered A while she was out.
Suggested change that cut three steps from B.
Manager asked me to train C.
That's it.
The useful part is that after six months you have evidence instead of a vague feeling that you've been working hard.
It has helped me with performance reviews, salary conversations, updating my resume and even interviews because I already have real examples when someone asks about a problem I solved or a time I took initiative.
Also: save numbers when you have them. "Helped with onboarding" is fine. "Onboarded four new hires and wrote the checklist the team still uses" is much better six months later when you've forgotten the details.
Obviously don't copy confidential company information into a personal device or take documents you aren't allowed to keep. Mine is just a record of my own work and outcomes.
To-do lists are great at reminding you what still isn't finished. I think more of us need a list that proves how much we've already done.

i don't know what it is but i genuinely cannot do this. i know how to talk with adults, but when i'm faced with a child of any age, i freeze up and can't talk. i don't know how to play with them. there's a two year old girl who lives in my building and sometimes my mom & i go play with her at the playground but i don't know what to say or do, what tone of voice to use, or what facial expressions to make. so i awkwardly stand around lol. also can't do baby voice (like ms rachel voice) at all. interacting with kids seems to come so naturally to other women, especially in my culture (indian). is there any way to improve?

I am honestly a victim of my own ideas.
I saw an instagramn ad for a beginning lash tech giving crazy cheap rates for lash models. It's genuinely very little compared to others in the area, I'm talking like half the usual amount. So my brain saw a good deal, dmed and made an appointment. Only days later I'm starting to realize I'm going to a stranger's home to lay down with my eyes closed. My only info is literally just an instagram ad (which anyone can publish), two reels from the account showing about five different clients and very little space/employee, and a very empty rest of the instagram account.
After realizing this is not the safest idea I've become pretty paranoid about the whole thing. Does anyone have any safety tips in this situation?

I’ll think a guy is cute look at his Instagram and next thing I know I’m like thinking about him or checking at his socials way too much for one day.
It’s annoying bc it’s exciting at first and then logic hits me bc usually it’s some guy who has no interest in me and I’m not going to embarrass myself. I have no idea how to go and talk to guys I‘m interested in in person because I’m too scared and DMs are worse, or if they don’t follow me back I know they’re not interested.
But then I get sad about it like it’s not the 10th time this has happened. What the flip?

Between skincare, makeup, hair appointments, and rent, I feel like my paycheck disappears so fast. Everything has gotten so expensive, and even skipping a few things doesn't seem to help much. How do you decide to spend on and what to skip without feeling like you're neglecting yourself?

I just finished my bottle of lotion and I'm in search of a new one! I'd love to know what y'all are using that's actually hydrating but not sticky and/or oily.
And that absorbs into the skin pretty quickly.
Not cream. But lotion. Thanks y'all!

I (34F) am bringing my best friend (30F) to get a breast biopsy in a few weeks. Golf ball sized lump found. We've sobbed. Laughed. Smoked way too many cigarettes in a row.
Anyways, I booked us a hotel room nesr the hospital for the night before so we don't have to leave at the ass crack of dawn to be at her appointment. How can I help her prepare for the ride home? Pain management? Once I get her back home?
I'm definitely on a budget but willing to drop a few bills to make sure the baddest bitch I know is okay. Looking for any tips whatsoever or advice on what to expect. Thanks homies.

i’m a very clean person and i try to look and feel clean every single day as much as possible. however, whenever i go out with friends i put makeup on including lip liner and lipgloss and after a few hours i end up getting white things forming on the cornor of my lips and its very disgusting for the people who i’m hanging out around. this also happens when i barely eat during the hangout and only drink water or anything else.
no matter how much i remove it, it always forms back and i don’t know how to get rid of it completely!!!!
please help me get rid of this problem, i don’t want to seem dirty and disgusting whenever i’m around friends.
edit: the texture of the white stuff is like sticky i would say also because of the lip gloss

late to being sexual with a man and barely any experience. Mostly it's all in my head at this point. For anyone else who started late, what did you wish you knew before you started? I just feel awkward having no sexual experience when most people have a lot at my age.
