Gaming I fucking hate Hogwarts Legacy

Post image
5 Upvotes

A year ago i bought Hogwarts Legacy for like 8 dollars and it fucking stinks, i got 10 hours on it and im still being railroaded and all the character faces look like roadkill. I genuinely believe that game was conceived to actively hurt you (though i am trans so maybe its on purpose), i fell asleep for 4 hours two separate times while playing it and woke up at 3AM with sweat all over me because i was having a nightmare. Probably the second worst thing JK Rowling's done

Gaming The wounds, the flanderization of the small monsters, I hate hate HATE ALL OF IT!!!!

Ok well not truly hate it, but I Dislike it a lot actually. I'm not really an old gen monster hunter vet as they say, hell, my first Monster hunter game was Monster Hunter Stories, but What I can say is that the differences between Old Monster hunter games and what we got in 5th gen and beyond are VERY dissatisfying!

A thing about me is that I like caveman, megafauna hunting Aesthetics, and Monster Hunter scratched that itch. In fact, it scratched that itch SO good that Monster Hunter was one of the only things I played for 7 years straight, and even still I feel not an ounce of fatigue for the series! I fucking LOVE monster hunter, I love it so much that I can even memorize ALL the monsters by class, size, and the games they're from by memory, even the small monsters! I can recognize them by their roar, by their themes, hell Even by the hunting horn chymes from their equipment!

So safe to say, no it's not my long time playing of the series that makes it feel so fucking dry, but another thing. HOW THEY TREAT MONSTER AND PLAYER RELATIONSHIPS. My first taste of mainline was MHFU via emulation, and safe to say that, that game is one of if not my all-time favorite games to play, but I'll touch on that after I deliver a diamond-studded paddle to the BALLS of this abominable newtard slop that is Wilds.

For one, my biggest gripe and the very thing that I would be happy if you upped and removed from the game would be Wounds and Focus mode. Honestly, these two things just blatantly cuck the system of part breaks, which focuses on timing, and and positioning with intent to reach the desired outcome of breaking the monster's part, making the fight more manageable, and even getting the extra treat of a carve for your hard efforts. Honestly, Capcom could have went many ways of solving this issue, be it balance the way this system is managed, or hell, make the wound as maybe a stage one indicator that the monster part is half-way broken. Reasonable, right? But what does Crapcum do?

Give you a shitty decoration that gives back your integral mechanic that makes monster hunter, MONSTER HUNTER. And the funny thing is being that the damn thing still doesn't work.

Ok, pretty sad, but you wanna know what else the BBC overlords at Capcum decided plow into an unrecognizable husk of it's former self?

THE FUCKING SMALL MONSTERS!! Back then, if you didn't know how to actually manage a group of monsters properly, you might as well bent over and pucker up princess, because you basically spent money to get a digital Bukkake special, with your only payment being the permission to live. Dromes pouncing on you, Vespoids and Bnahabras paralyzing you to death, Hermitaurs, Blangos, an assortment of small monsters who would slap you off your feet and make you regret ignoring them, because sometimes their existence was the only difference between a quest complete and you turning off you device and crying in the middle of class silently. These days, they're just slightly more complex endemic life that you can tear slinger ammo off and also beat up so you don't realize that Capcom left them sprinkled in the world to make it look pretty. It's such a damn problem in fact that instead of actually BALANCING them to be a proper threat and giving them back their place in this game ecosystem, they really gave you a fucking shopping spree quest and told you to kick rocks.

Buddy, if I wanted to play a fucking glorified BANDIT BEATER I would just boot up Blox Fruits for free, not do some wack filler quest so you can feel like you did your job Capcum.

And now instead they just assigned this role to the starter monsters. Big whoop. There was a time where if you didn't take a starter monster seriously, it would actually fuck you over, and I'm not going to even say "But now" again because I'm just tired of it.

So TLDR; The wounds features suck the small monsters have been reduced to mere resources, and New thing bad Old thing good. Safe to say I'm probably going to stick to old gen monster hunter for a while now, and do more complaining on the MH sub.

Thing When people don't answer your fucking question and respond with "Well why shouldn't they" or "Why are you against it?" or "Why not?"

I asked why universities allowed high school students in their libraries out of curiosity. And half the responses were Well why shouldn't they" or "Why are you against it?" or "Why not?" or some other variation.

And this isn't even the first time. Some people love to answer questions by not answering the question. Why are you putting the onus on me to answer my own question? If I knew what the answer was, I wouldn't have asked dipshit. Buncha twats the lot of em

Non-fictional I despise the “everyone craves chocolate on their period” stereotype

It’s not even just a media trope people actually act like this irl

Not only is it just not fucking true it also seems misogynistic atp

I feel like the fact that cravings are different for everyone should be common knowledge but I guess not

I’ve seen people online wishing others on their period chocolate like omg you don’t know what they crave fuck off

It also probably sets up bad expectations for young people in relationships and will probably make them think that if their girlfriend is on her period then she’s gonna want chocolate when that’s not necessarily true

I wish people would stop mentioning this stereotype and spreading it around because it’s just fucking stupid tbh

Animation I hate that my favorite character in my one of my favorite shows is practically not there

Post image
0 Upvotes

For those unaware, this is Tissues from Inanimate Insanity. His whole shtick is that he's always sick (which is especially sad considering he was created to be that way by the guy that made him), which was the most interesting thing to me when I was ten years old and I still like him quite a lot because he's just cool.

Do you know how many lines of dialogue he has in the show?

Seven.

Seven fucking lines of dialogue in the same show.

That isn't an exact number but I'm being generous with it because he's been basically forgotten since his debut in 2013. There's a character who had been dead from 2013 to November of 2024 and she has more lines of dialogue than him.

His most important role wasn't even in the main show, it was in a fucking short. And he was great in it. If they just had him on screen in the main show for more than two minutes, he would be a smash hit. But no, we're just going to ignore his existence.

Comics I kinda hate superman-ish superheroes

Thumbnail

Full disclaimer, I know these guys vary wildly in powers and capabilities but I still don't like them. They feel boring. They have everything under the sun with few weaknesses outside of McGuffin minerals or some bullshit strength scaling.

Why can superman keep up with the flash at all? How can omni man take orbital lasers but viltrumites slice each other like butter when at war with each other? Why do we give these guys cold breath, laser vision, speed, strength, flight, impenetrable skin, super sensory power like vision and hearing, etc.

I feel like superheroes like this shouldn't struggle and shouldn't lose. It feels like they're written explicitly for the purpose of plot armor despite how much they're actually given at any moment.

When I look at Iron man and Batman, I don't see some immortal unstoppable force, I see a character that has flaws and weaknesses that's able to win with their unique skills. Aqua man and Thor feel strong but not completely indomitable, and their asthetics feel more grounded towards their powers. Superman just feels so generic and uninspired. I know he was novel for the time but I feel like he seems more like a walking success than an actual character unless you hit his Achilles heel first. Hell even Achilles is lame, give me Cu Chulainn instead.

EDIT: Batman was a bad example. In hindsight, him somehow having a chance against the rest of the justice league is correctly assessed as Gary Stu bullshit. I honestly hate that superman isn't the Gary Stu

I genuinely don't get it. You get a new game in the franchise, with good gameplay mechanics, good stylistics, interesting combat and cool characters, and all you say is: "Erm, this isn't my Symphony of the night, the game is bad".

Why are you like this? Are you stupid? Are you just a nostalgic asshole who think that the game released in 1997 doesn't deserve to change and evolve?

The whole conversation I saw on X is that "this game isn't CV:SOTN so it's bad", when it's not bad. I'm genuinely pissed off by people like this.

Thing I HATE ICED DRINKS

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

(heyy first post here, anyways) Iced drinks as a whole is something I hate to have with food, like imagine you're at a restaurant, and you ask for a soda or any drink that isn't water or whatever, and it's iced. You now have 3 options (my experience)

• Enjoy the drink by not guzzling it down so half of the experience is a watered down soda/alcohol/etc

• DONT enjoy the drink by guzzling it down leaving no room to enjoy it with your food

• Backwash the drink by eating the ice (again rendering it tasteless due to saliva)

Not only, but (in personal experience) iced drinks just numb the taste and shock my teeth, what's the point?? And for the temperature argument, if I didn't want a lukewarm drink I'd slap it in the fridge for a few minutes (WHICH IS SOMETHING THEY ALREADY DO!?!) and because how normalized it is to drink iced drinks, people are surprised when i ask for **NO** ice?? Just let me enjoy my (most probably) sprite in peace dude, and of course old fashioned restaurants get you your drink with the ice either because they don't care or they just worked along muscle memory

TLDR: Ice numbs the taste and shocks my teeth, and waters down the drink before I can enjoy it with my food, and its normalized to drink drinks with ice so I cant order without looks

Edit: WATER with ice is completely okay for me, because melting just means the water says slightly above lukewarm and inedible ice turns to yum yum water :D

Animation I hate Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss hate

Post image
0 Upvotes

Don't get me wrong, the shows are not perfect by any means, there is definitely deserved criticism but the criticism that is given is usually just pearl clutching or opinions made by people who have only seen clips of the show and hateful posts made by others in the same situation.

When the first 3 episodes of Helluva Boss S3 came out this week, there was a very sexual sequence in episode 3 and the internet exploded with pearl clutching and even some "think about the kids!"

The show is an adult, 18+ show meant for adult, 18+ audiences, not children and it's made very clearly so by the message at the beginning of each episode, it's not up to the show's creators to manage who watches it, if a child is exposed to such sequences, that's on their parents.

And then, with the Fortnite collab, the amount of people who acted like it was the worst collab ever is insane, considering we got literal skins based off of ai brainrot.

Worst thing about the hate, to me, is how badly the community and vivziepop herself is treated by the haters, I've seen accusations of zionism, pedophilia and slurs being thrown about, purely because someone likes the hellaverse. I've never seen hate so visceral for any show or it's community like this.

And this is all without watching the show or trying to interact with the community in a non-harmful way.

Thing I absolutely detest that people all of a sudden just love AI because it benefits them.

Post image

This was on a post about the bloodborne pc recomp. I point out that it's ai generated and get hate for it. It's extremely hypocritical, because I 100% guarantee that of you ask them their opinion on ai data centres, or ai generated images/videos they'd be against it, but the moment they can reap benefits from this heavy ai use they just don't care and can't stand on principle.

I fucking LOVE bloodborne, and I want SO badly for their to be a native pc port, but what I absolutely do not want is some ai garbage taking away from the months to YEARS of people's excruciating work and effort in the community all for itself. PC recomp ports and decomp projects are community led at their very core, and all the hours upon hours of unpaid work from the absolute legends in every game community is just being spat on by this ai bullshit.

YES it's cool that bloodborne is on pc, and YES all the advancements in ps5 emulation are cool, but when it's made and pumped out by ai, it loses the community aspect. I remember waiting MONTHS for the twilight princess pc recomp, getting occasional updates from the zelda subreddit about it and being so excited, then it coming out and finally getting to play it was so awesome because it CAME from somewhere. The community came together and made the pc port out of a love and passion for the game.

Also, could you just imagine the nuclear level fallout that would happen if ubisoft or something came forward and said they're firing all but a small team of employees and they're just going to be using ai to code and create all their games from now on? People would rightfully be really pissed, but they just can't see the hypocrisy in this.

There's no passion behind these new developments. Just slop, churned out in a few hours at most by some guy who doesn't give a single fuck about the ip, and that just makes me so sad.

I just feel such a dread, honestly. All feels so damn hopeless, knowing that everyone is continuing to just eat up this ai garbage.

Meta French people hate online. (Long read)

Thumbnail
gallery
179 Upvotes

Didn't know what to tag this as. Please note that I do not hate the people in the images, rather I hate what the title describes, and the motion around it. I repeat, i do NOT hate the people in the images nor do I condone hating on the people in the images.

The images are from a thread under a post which finally inspired me to make this post. I heard that the BK image is ironic or a joke or whatever, and I get that, but it still doesn't change what I'm going to say.

This might get a lot of downvotes, disagreements, or otherwise, simple due to how prevalent it is online.

But I hate how, for lack of a better word, "normalized" and even "praised" the hate for French people has become. Now look, I'm not French myself, I'm American, but I have a online French friend and, quite frankly, he's one of the nicest people I know and one of the bestest friends I've ever had.

I heard one of the reasons people hate French people is due to their unpleasant and rude personality, and while that may or may not be true, my friend also happens to be one of the chillest and wokest people I know as well.

But I didn't come to talk about my friend.

I don't like this "hate" that people have come to foster online. When I first heard about it, I thought it was just a light joke. Infact, I used to be one of those people, particularly because the aforementioned friend used to make those same types of jokes towards his own kind.

However, I stopped when I realized my friend had also stopped, and those type of jokes even began to make him uncomfortable (atleast from what I could tell). I realized that, yeah, what I was doing was pretty lame and it was hurting someone I was close with. It was dumb and I regret it, and I stopped now.

But realizing how it was hurting my friend overtime also made me realize how frankly stupid the whole thing is. Now, to be fair, I don't completely understand it as I haven't been able to find a valid reason as to WHY its become to mainstream in the first place.

But I think that's part of the problem, there is no valid reason. What started as a "joke", has become straight up xenophobia, and xenophobia has no valid reason.

Hating an entire population of people simply for who they were born as is Xenophobia. You don't hate them because you actually know who they are as people, as if you've met every single one, you hate them because of what you've seen online and what they have been generalized as, or because of the actions of the corruption in power, in which case neither are right.

And it doesn't matter how much you joke about hating them or hate them unironically, the fact that it has gone into constantly dehumanizing them and treating them like they're animals and encouraging it is weirdo behavior to me. And it being about French people, just because hating on them has now become so normalized, does not make it any better than hating on other groups of people.

I know people will probably try to defend it by saying "but its just a joke!" I already understand that it is, but it doesn't change that I haven't been able to find a valid reason why its become a joke in the first place, nor does it change the fact that its starting to become increasingly less ironic.

I'm not referring to the people in the images but I've interacted with others who genuinely seem to hate French people.

So yeah, I don't say this because I'm defending the French government's past or their actions or whatever. But respectfully, I think the whole "joke" is nonsense, it's not funny anymore, and at this point sounds no longer like a joke and just sounds like genuine xenophobia. I hate how mainstream it has gotten recently.

Thing I HATE the fact that people act like the Roadster is some kind of innovative marvel of engineering

the thrusters isnt something tesla INVENTED. elon has his knowledge from spacex and he slapped this gimmick onto the car and it has quite literally zero benefits. atleast in the original roadster concept, the thrusters were used to help quite literally push the car into the corner, BACK THEN, THAT WAS COOL AS SHIT. yes its an already established technology, but it was awesome how they planned to use it in a way the car would actually require it. imagine fucking rocket thrusters that help connect spacecraft to the ISS IN A ROAD CAR. but no, elon and his dumb ass mind, not only had to ruin it ( and the gorgeous design of the car ) but also found a way to make it so fucking lame. who the fuck is ever going to be able to use this in public ever? its never going to be street legal, and even if it does. its just BULLSHIT. it will likely damage every car/property/person in its vicinity, while the driver of the car gets to go ahead. elon mightve lowkey somehow made a car version of him. get ahead with no regards for others, and be ugly as fuck

Gaming I hate racing games that intentionally nerf the driving for "accessibility."

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Yeah, I know it's a toggle and I can turn it off but the fact that "accessibility" means the game is actively fighting your attempts to drive is infuriating as hell. Worse, the game doesn't even bother warning you that using the settings makes the game damn near unplayable at higher skill levels. I get why it would mind you; I'm just mad there's no warning about it.

Edit: I understand these are casual inclined games and I'm not even pretending to debate that. But there is a world of difference between driving with things like Forza's "stability control" or Mario Kart's "auto-steering" on and off.

General I hate it when contemporary Italy is associated with the far right or fascism.

Recently, Greta Thunberg declared that the Italian government is "fascist." Now, I have nothing against Thunberg, but I believe many people fail to realize how offensive this is to those who live in our country.

In general, I think many foreigners have absolutely no understanding of what fascism actually is. Original fascism encompassed populist welfare policies, the nationalization of businesses, pervasive state control over personal assets, the secularization of the state, corporatism, all of which were highly opportunistic measures tied to the society of that era. Pasolini was spot on when he described fascism as "a group of criminals in power." If you compare the platform of a neo-fascist party from 50 years ago with that of Giorgia Meloni today, the differences are enormous. Giorgia Meloni belongs to the liberal right.

Personally, I do not care for her, but labeling her (or Italy itself) as "fascist" simply because you happen to dislike certain things is offensive to the country. People from across the political spectrum, right, left, and centre, fought against fascism. To suggest that a nation, which effectively saved itself during the extreme hardship of the 1943–1950 period, has now elected a fascist prime minister is an insult to the Republic. Italy has never been a "right-wing" country; for instance, we once had the largest Communist Party in the Western bloc.

Furthermore, the fascism of that era bears no resemblance to the right-wing politics of today. And if you think this is all just ancient history, look at how people vote in Emilia-Romagna, the quintessential "red" region, a bastion of the welfare state and a stronghold of the Left for 80 years, which, incidentally, was also the region most severely affected by fascism.

I mainly meant to say peoo w who complain ablut Arizonas heat and the people of Arizona. As an individual who has been an Arizons resident for 14 years, the heat stopped becoming a problem after year 5. People still complain about the sun but won't fuck outta here. Just because I am stsweating doent mean that the heat is my biggest problem. Some people stil complain like its 1,000 degrees outside and although it may seem that way, but thats because SOME people in Arizona dont know what a fucking water bottle is. Genuinely, SOME Arizona residents are genuinely so dumb to the point its not even funny. Me and my family have been trying to move out of here recently because of how annoying people are here.

Gaming I hate how there are so many sweats in bedwars/skywars

In fact, this is the case with every game! So picture this: you did all your studies, homework, everything, so you sit down for a gaming session. You lose your first round, so you get on the second round, and then the third, the fourth...

After thirty rounds of quick dropping, I'm basically about to ragequit! And it's not like I have much time to refine my skill, I'm still studying, so when I go for a CASUAL round of bedwars, it's just endless losing and requeueing, I just stop. Didn't do anything the session except getting eliminated!

Idea The Desloppification sub is horribly out of touch

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

You have to be trolling if you think some random guy on Reddit has the skills to just put together something as good as the AI version, while also doing it for free, and also doing it in a quick timespan

For the group of people who claim to love artists, they sure seem to dislike actually supporting them— and would rather use their free labor to virtue signal on the internet

Like my guy just use the AI generated slop. No one cares. Nobody is gonna put a curse on you because you had the gull to use AI lol. It’s not that serious

These were just 2 out of 5 images he wanted desloppified; and let me tell you, actually making something like that from hand would take weeks to months even for a skilled artist. No only that, if it was done all from scratch, you’d be looking at a pipeline of a whole team of senior concept artists/VERY skilled artists working with a senior 3D artist (who has to make sure all this stuff makes logical sense in 3D as well as probably make the background and props), and you’re still looking at well over a week for each lol

That is the problem with desloppification. AI can output thousands of these per day when a team of artists would take weeks. You’re fighting a losing battle, give up.

Anime & Manga Anime women with massive assets

It’s not even about the misogyny or the lack or realism at this point. It’s just UGLY. We see it happen in the anime’s, or in individual people’s art. At some point it looks so exaggerated it feels like a joke. I actually roll my eyes at others art who give the women in their style massive assets. Nobody is built like that, and I know what type of person you are. Draw whatever you want but don’t harass my eyeballs with this shit.

Edit: and what pisses me off double is when the dudes they draw look regular in comparison. Why not draw him with a third leg at this point. Especially in a fighting setting where they’re constantly boxing crazy villains and then the woman is skinny as hell with no muscle and hella boobs. Mane fuck off with that.

Even with prompts and custom instructions telling it not to write like that, IT STILL DOES IT! It’s not engaging to read and looks ugly on my screen. It doesn’t help when scrolling on the internet, you find a post or comment and you can immediately tell it’s written by ChatGPT.

Edit: For those who say I can write myself. I’m not saying I’m using chatgpt for writing itself but that I always see this writing style everywhere on the internet and dislike it.

Gaming The current influx of "RE community sucks" videos because they commited the cardinal sin of asking for a movie that is actually faithful to the games.

• Upvotes

I've had it up to here with people and their shitty excues about why the RE movie is a good RE movie and you're just a gatekeeper or some other bullshit nickname these clowns can come up for RE fans.

Let me be clear; THE QUALITY OF THIS MOVIE IS NOT THE BONE RE FANS HAVE, IS IT'S FAITHFULNESS TO THE SOURCE MATERIAL.

This isn't a bad horror movie, this isn't even a good horror movie, it's an EXCELLENT horror movie made by the guy who gave us Barbarian and Weapons, some of the most unnerving and teeth-nibbling horror movies of this current decade. But you know what it also is? A bad RE movie.

It's timeline is unfaithful to the events of Racoon City, it's modern day aesthetic clashes with the 90s of where the in-game events this movie takes place hapenned, and it doesn't even do at all a well job at conveying RE's elements of gameplay as a lot of these meat-riders would say it does.

They bring up "Camera angles" and an object from the game having a blink-if-you-miss-it apperance like if that all of the sudden conveys a good adaptation.

Worst of all, Lowik's video makes mention of how the movie is justified as a good adaptation because it uses "First person and Third person angles like in classic Resident Evils". Excuse me, have you played classic RE? Third person wasn't a thing until RE4 which was the game that was a massive departure from RE's formula and first person didn't came until 2017, more than 15+ entries after it's original 90s games. If anything, it's unfaithful because it lacks the fixed camera angles from far away that slowly pan towards where the character is moving.

Umbrella gets hardly brought up in the movie, no original characters or mentions of STAARS or UBCSS.

"But an adaptation doesn't need to bring characters from the series to be good"

NOT WHEN IT'S A FRANCHISE WITH STABLISHED CHARACTERS AND RARELY INTRODUCES NEW ONES WITH NEW TITLES.

Using Fallout and Cyberpunk Edgerunners as example is dumb because the former is an RPG where you make your own character and decide their personality and attributes, and the latter only has had a tabletop game and a videogame entry where the character might have a set arc, but it's also made as a blank slate for the player to create their own personalized protagonist. These are bad examples of good adaptations that don't bring characters from the game- Oh wait, Edgerunners had one of the antagonists of 2077 as a villain, so it's even a more moot argument for these people.

I'm just tired that these clowns keep moving the goalpost despite the evidence of Zach Cregger clearly not knowing enough of the RE franchise to actually make a good RE movie about it. No, this doesn't demerit his knowledge as a filmmaker, it only demerits his knowledge as a RE enthusiast. RE fans are not babies or entitled for giving him flack over this movie that could've just been it's own zombie flick and still been a relatively solid 8/10 movie without the necessary RE title in it.

Live Action I hate the discourse around this show for bastardizing and running into the ground the beautiful term "Surf Dracula"

Post image
183 Upvotes

Yes, I 100% agree that the Draculas don't do enough surfing throughout the series and surfing really doesn't get much time to shine, but: it's a show about TWO Draculas, both of whom are main characters and Hal Jordan suits up and travels to space VERY early into the series, as well as having his surf h him throughout even if he does underuse it. There is nothing fundamentally wrong about a show featuring a mentor and a mentee Draculas where the mentee gets his surf only at the very end. Show has other issues but it is **not** an actual example of a property being surfdracula'd. If there was no Hal and John still only went surfing in the last episode then yes, that would have been it.
