General When you were a kid and older relatives did this

Post image

Imagine this. You're playing swingball with your crayon eater little cousin. You're giving him a serious ass kicking. He's starting to snivel because he's losing so hard. You're really giving it everything you've got and you're giving the entire family BBQ a spectacle on your swingball prowess.

Your little cousin is about to burst into tears from the feeling of failiure and suddenly your uncle comes over. "Right, I think it's time to eat.... Lets say... next point wins?"

Your little cousin is ecstatic. Finally after his pitifully weak performance he rejoices at finally having a chance. You still effortlessly kick his ass for the 19th time.

Your uncle puts his hands on his hips and say "lets call that a draw". He celebrates and meanwhile you're left to simmer alone with the feeling of injustice.

Your entire performance is discredited by someone else imposing their rules upon your game.

Thing Restaurants using AI

Post image
5.8k Upvotes

If you're in a city nowadays, you're going to see OpenAI's trypophobic nightmare machine generating art in restaurants, food trucks, everywhere really. As someone who's really sensitive to this stuff, seeing it irl makes me feel like maggots are crawling in my skin. It makes you wonder if the ability to detect the uncanny is just not present in most people.

This actual artist is madelinehorwath on insta.

Gaming I hate how quickly AI is defining the future of game development

Was really looking forward to Drunken Goddess Reflux specifically but now it seems like we won't even get an inkling of content to look forward to until they decide to shadowdrop the full game.

People make me sick, we can't have anything nice in this world anymore. This is like that time travel idea everyone has, the one where someone wants to go back in time and pitch a popular idea that exists today first so they can take the credit and riches it eventually earns, BUT WITHOUT THE TIME MACHINE AND IT'S HAPPENING NOW.

As an aspiring game developer myself, this terrifies me. I've had ideas of doing things the Deltarune way where I could have things released in chapters, and others like releasing the first part as a pitch and then perhaps doing a Kickstarter to help expedite development (of course following through with the game regardless of its success, it would just grant the opportunity to really focus on things without the need to worry for other obligations as much), but not anymore.

You can't even pitch an idea or show a gameplay trailer anymore without the risk of someone stealing it and making their own, which has always been a thing, but can now be fully fleshed out within a matter of DAYS.

To anyone aspiring to create anything anymore, keep your ideas closely guarded and try to take any precaution to make sure your work is definitively tied to you.

Thing I hate the "this person has passed" meme

Post image
2.8k Upvotes

Not only is this meme really old and overdone. It makes it so when a famous person actually does die, you HAVE to doubt it because it might just be one of these

Look, I get the Internet, I've grown up on it for better (and mostly for worse). I know people love pulling these kinds of gotcha things, and i understand the concept of engagement bai, i fully understand why people make these.

What I don't understand is how so many people upvote and support these kinds of posts. Again, especially now, with how old and overdone it is. Every influential person has had a dozen of these kinds of memes made of them.

Non-fictional I hate hearing about the Nutty Putty cave incident

Post image
2.5k Upvotes

For those who happily avoided this case until now: basically a man got trapped in a cave in the position shown on the photo and despite everyone's best efforts, they couldn't get him out. He died upside down like that, probably in unimaginable pain. The cave was sealed off after that.

Shock value engagement baiters just cannot let this case rest in peace, I swear. Despite never looking for it, I somehow see it brought up at least once per month. Usually on the thumbnail of some YouTube video titled "the worst fates in history" and the like. It's a disgusting, deeply unsettling incident that's horrible to think about. I cannot even comprehend how much torture that man suffered through before his body gave out. I hate being reminded of something so tragic just by browsing on the web. I want things on my feed that make me feel happy, not sick.

Idea People who think fans cool down a room (THEY DONT.)

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

EDIT: I've mistakenly expressed myself wrong, instead of "room" i mean Air in general. they can cool a room down by circulating air if a window is open, i know this, but they dont directly cool air so having them on in a tricky spot for circulating air or in a closed room its useless.

This is extremely specific but hear me out.

fans do NOT cool down a room, so stop wasting energy and keeping them on unless you have them pointed at you. A fan is only shooting air at you fast which makes it feel cold at touch, its not actually cooling down the air, that's what an AIR CONDITIONER does.

I would've never done this post if i didn't see so many people use them wrong, it got to a point where i literally had to make this post.

for example, there's been heatwaves here so, couple of weeks ago my parents asked me to turn on the fan in their room despite them not being in it., i had to explain to them that does nothing but wasting energy. I also noticed there's stores with fans pointing at nowhere and so i again i was wondering if people genuinely don't know (i know that some stores do this for people that walk around in the store but trust me that wasn't the case there.) And again i was watching videos online and saw a dude also just having the fan rotating for no reason.

Did you believe fans cool down the air?

  • no
  • yes (explain what you think now after knowing the truth.)

Non-fictional I hate that people think flying cars would be good idea.

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

Look at at all the work air traffic controllers have to do to make sure things stay safe with the current air travel system and then multiply that by millions of drivers that are are curently on the road because now everyone has the ability to fly at will. Anyone who drives has seen what kind of drivers are on the road, do you really want that in the skies. Think about all the safety checks planes go through before they take off, the average person isn't doing that do there's a good chance that clunkers would just fall out of the sky. If flying cars were real and widely available we'd be dealing with a 9/11 every hour.

Animation The character designs in One Piece are genuinely awful.

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

I genuinely hate One Piece character designs.

What’s most impressive is how wildly inconsistent the designs are in this series, going from one extreme to the other.

A character’s design can be legendary, like Xebec’s, or absolutely ridiculous, like Franky’s.

But the overwhelming majority of them are pretty bad. Like, really fucking bad.

Anime & Manga Adult Romance

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

This image is actually an example of an adult romance I enjoy. Anyway:

By adult romance, I don’t mean NSFW content. Rather, I’m referring to two adults who are romantically involved in an anime/manga.

I absolutely HATE when adults are depicted as bumbling children who can’t even hold a conversation with their partner. I understand that the whole “embarrassed and awkward” thing is a common trope in anime, I understand the reason it is there, but it doesn’t work for adults. I can brush it aside when they’re in a highschool setting but not for people who are working 9-5s.

The manga I included above (Dekai Usagi ni Natsukareta!?) is actually a prime example of what I want in an adult romance.

The characters talk things out. There’s no unnecessary drama or awkwardness. The male MC, who you’d think would be meek or avoidant of the FMC, is actually really open to her and goes out of his way to show he does want to be comfortable with her in the romantic sense.

It is SUCH a breath of fresh air.

But it also makes me hate other stories even more, because this is NOT a difficult story beat to use. This manga proves it and makes me wish others did as well.

THE PEOPLE WHO USE THESE ARE ON THE SAME LEVEL AS FACEBOOK MOMS POSTING MINION MEMES, ITS THE SAME KINDA PEOPLE WHO USE "UPDOOT" OR "THANK YOU FOR THE GOLD KIND STRANGER"

The worst part is that they're CONSTANTLY spammed in threads and it drowns out any kinda discussion. The reaction images are worse when it just creates a giant chain of stupid redditor reaction images.

Gaming Systems that are said to be “shallow” by people who clearly never engaged with them

The Emotional Spectrum: Omori

It is a SHOCKINGLY common opinion I’ve seen that Omori gameplay boils down to rock paper scissors (Happy beats Angry, Sad Beats Happy, Angry beats Sad) with no strategy or variance.

This completely ignores that even the in-game tutorial paper you’re given (that also serves as EXTREMELY good foreshadowing) shows that the emotions have different effects on your stats as well.

The UNIVERSAL experience of a first time Omori player (or at least for me and all my friends) is trying to stack anger against happy and then getting one shot by a crit because happy increases you crit chance and speed and anger reduces your defense

This also is completely ignoring that there are moves not tied to the emotions system, and moves that have special effects connected to the emotion system that may even incentivize putting yourself at a disadvantage against a type for the buff they give

(The early game move “Stab” you get for Omori is a guaranteed crit and ignores defense if he’s sad, which can be really strong even against angry because of their lowered defense)

Looping: Dead by Daylight

It was an extremely common in-joke that Dead by Daylight gameplay boils down to two people chasing eachother around a rock for five minutes. At some point in the game’s ten year history however, this breached containment and seems to be the unironic popular take on the game from a majority of people, especially by other asymmetrical game players

DBD has a whole host of perks, techs, fakes, and strategies on both sides. So much intact it’s another extremely common in-joke in the community that even if you have hundreds of hours in the game you can still be a “noob” due to the sheer scale of everything inside

Builds: Skyrim

I’ll be the first person to say that Skyrim is by no means a perfect game, and I’m way more critical of it than the other two entries. But it drives me up a WALL whenever people say that the only viable build is the stealth archer build.

It’s like people turn their brains off and forget about every single other way to play simply because stealth archer is the easiest to get strong with.

Thing i hate when people think they're "based" for trying to make vegans mad

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

ow wow congrats, you made a vegan pissed at you for very good reasons......are you supposed to be in the right here?

now look, i ain't vegan, i eat meat, i LOVE skewers and i probably would never quit eating meat unless somehow i built up the determination, and i say this, are there vegans that are annoying as hell? yes, are there vegan organizations that are genuinely buns and bring more harm to the world than good? absolutely, are the protests obnoxious sometimes? thats a fact, but does that justify you being arguably more of an asshole by doing this type of shit? no

like yeah, i'll be kinda annoyed if somebody is a little too preachy, even if the message they're spreading is a good message, they're good people, not wanting to eat animals isn't a bad thing, its a great thing, and even if i don't follow that lifestyle, i personally respect it a lot

now when you do this type of shit, you're being a genuine bum and making people who eat meat look like assholes, which only fuels more conflict, like "ohmygosh i fed a vegan real meat, i'm so fucking based and redpilled" "oh i brought an entire outback order and ate it in front of hundreds of vegans" no, you're not cool for doing that, you're a shithead who doesn't have anything better to do with your time

so look, whenever you see vegans talking about this stuff, regardless of how well they pass the message, just do whatever you want man, every community is gonna have annoying people, but you can't generalize and think its ok to inconvenience random people for it

Gaming I hate AI bros replicating indie games just to show off / make money

Post image
311 Upvotes

So this is a recent case, this game about hitting a wall until it breaks blew up on twitter, it's a silly and simple idea so people naturally liked it.

However, not even a DAY later the game got copied and vibecoded and now it's on roblox and making money out of kids.

THIS is why I hate AI as a whole (besides the cognitive degenerarion that it can produce), the fact that now no one can show an idea becouse there will be a random guy with a 200-500 dollar subscription which will make a random ass twitter post replicating your game and say "look what claude can do now, I'm definetly better than you becouse I use AI".

If this is truly the "future", then what is the point of doing anything?, I don't want to live in a time where creativeness has become private and ideas cannot be shared anymore.

Gaming I hate Helldivers 2 modding (this title is ragebait so you go and read the body text)

I don't care what mods you use, I don't care what the fuck you do to the game. AS LONG AS YOU DO IT IN A PRIVATE LOBBY (or they're cosmetic). Call me fun police but:

What do you mean I don't like it when shitfuck219 full clears the map with the map-clearer-thingmadude-2890 or brings a "totally-balanced-eagle-mod" and turns the entire map in a ww1 battlefield in less than a minute? Like holy fuck, nothing in this game has ever took me out of it more than getting forcibly strapped to a cuck chair and watching the modder have his 20 minutes of fun because I dared play in a public lobby, and I fucking HATED the hive world update.

We can sit all day discussing what is and isn't balanced, but Arrowhead this and why Arrowhead that. Unless it's a very, very minor game-altering thing or a cosmetic just go play on a private lobby man. Just cause you can't play the easiest horde shooter ever invented doesn't mean I have to stand and watch you turn into a german wonder weapon with ai-vibe code nonsense

Gaming When your fav has the worst design ever...

Context: Dia Elias - The First Descendant

[SPOILERS]

She and her mother were both kidnapped and tortured. Her mom escaped captivity, but she became a brainwashed killing machine for the main villain. She gets rescued by her mom, she goes into a coma. She awakens, slowly regains her lost memories, and undergoes training to become a descendant - where it's revealed she's a clone, and she mercy kills her original self.

[SPOILERS]

I waited for her to be playable since the game's launch. I even pondered how her Descendant outfit would look - maybe a knight in sci-fi armor motif, it would've fit her gameplay style, and her protective nature towards her mother. And then, they revealed how her default base design looked...

-The entire back half of the outfit is just a bare thong, and the legs are cut all the way down to the back of the calves...

-It has a thigh and hip widow gap for no reason, and the top and bottom are separated weirdly just to show off her side/under breast and back...

-The top half has a useless hoodie and mask you can't even wear...

Her Arche powers are ice based, and she's ment to be a melee Gunlancer, but has no protection on her whatsoever... It's not even sexy, its just dumb... 😭

Media Tropes I hate how the Dutch language is spoken as German in movies and TV as if it is the same language.

Thumbnail
gallery
226 Upvotes

Maybe it sounds similar enough for people not from the Netherlands, but especially in the day and age of today with things as the internet and translation VAs and everything it should not be so hard to mess up each time. Probably something only Dutchies experience but everytime it happens I cringe and hate it so much. We klinken niet hetzelfde!

South Park - Vünter Slaush

I'll give some credit to the show for covering an actual Dutch children's song, but all the words are just German gibberish. The words "Vünter Slaush" is something you would never find in the Dutch language and is clearly more German sounding.

James Bond - Diamonds are Forever

Sean Connery pretending to be a Dutch businessman and talking German the whole time. Bonus hatepoints for all the "Dutch" extras walking on the street and saying "GUTEN ABEND" to eachother. While actually being in Amsterdam...

Austin Powers - Goldmember

Goldmember is supposed to be a Dutch villain, and while the actor genuinely tries to pull off a Dutch accent here and there, the use of words like "Fahza" still get under my skin for clearly just using German as a stand-in for Dutch.

Gunther - Friends

The Dutch lines (although in a bit of a German accent) are actually there! Is this an example done right? Almost, as they reveal that "Gunther" has a very typical Dutch name. Yeah right, as if...

Gaming The Shotgun From Tormented Souls

Post image
221 Upvotes

Just take a minute to yourselves and just bask in the presence of this fucking abomination. Not only is this the most scuffed looking shotgun in gaming history, the reload animation assumes the audience is composed of fucking morons.

The main character reloads this little arts and crafts project by unscrewing it in half and swapping out the forward end with another pipe. Now, I'm not sure how many people are familiar with this game, but the plot is very Resident Evil 1 meets Haunting Ground. I would not be surprised in the slightest if it turns out that the MC was tripping balls the whole time, because there's no fucking way a sane adult expects this fucking shit to work.

There's an expectation of suspension of disbelief, and then there's expecting the player to keep their composure as the developer plays in your fucking face. This is a product traded by dementia ridden crackheads for two handjobs and a bean can of piss. This fucking stupid piece of shit is the peak of engineering from Hobo Lockheed Martin. Developed by the best and brightest 3D printed minds of Heckler and Grok.

General Are we really comparing musk to the wright brothers?

Post image
194 Upvotes

To even compare musk and the wright brothers is laughable. Musk doesn't do any of the engineering, the closest he gets is being able to regurgitate what he's been told on podcasts and twitter. The wright brothers largely designed it themselves.

And to equate the significance of the two, you need to be mentally underdeveloped. Everyone knows the significance of the wright brothers, but so much of the wright flyer had to be designed from scratch. Comparing this to the roadster is insulting.

The roadster demonstration conditions would have been exceptionally controlled to mitigate the effects of variables. The actual car used is also not what's going to enter production. There hasn't been any hard evidence that the roadster used isn't just a frame and shell.

The 3 things which are needed to do the circus trick are a pressure vessel, a valve, and a nozzle. None of these are novel, the idea of using a pressurised fluid to create a force is not new. The components used have also been ripped straight from spacex, they didn't need to design it for this application.

The hardest part of doing this is the control system. But again they would've been able to use a lot of what's already been done from spacex. It would just use a pid controller, a 3rd year engineering student would be able to do this.

This also provides quite literally no benefits at all. The reason why nobody has done it before is because it's fucking useless, it doesn't solve any problems. Yes body control is important in rocketry, but again it's something they've been able to do for decades, it isn't contributing anything new. It would only ever be slightly impressive if they were to have a full weight car, which they haven't done here

and in general, why do commenters thank for the likes? Especially even adding mom I'm famous when their comment reaches a specific like count? I really don't think it's necessary and it's cringe. Idk why but it really irks me when ppl do that.

Another thing wtfdym "well not to be that guy but"??? Tf??? You're already being that guy‼️ it's like saying "no offense" then proceeding to say something intentionally offensive.

No it did not! It takes a maximum of 10 seconds to come up with the two possible answers and another minute or so to realise that the problem is with the question and not your math.

I know exaggeration is a part of language and communication but this specific type of exaggerating time it took for something is particularly cringey to me.

Live Action I hate the discourse around this show for bastardizing and running into the ground the beautiful term "Surf Dracula"

Post image
185 Upvotes

Yes, I 100% agree that the Draculas don't do enough surfing throughout the series and surfing really doesn't get much time to shine, but: it's a show about TWO Draculas, both of whom are main characters and Hal Jordan suits up and travels to space VERY early into the series, as well as having his surf h him throughout even if he does underuse it. There is nothing fundamentally wrong about a show featuring a mentor and a mentee Draculas where the mentee gets his surf only at the very end. Show has other issues but it is **not** an actual example of a property being surfdracula'd. If there was no Hal and John still only went surfing in the last episode then yes, that would have been it.
