Mod Post Genderbent Draco Malfoy Mega-thread

Post image
631 Upvotes

Everyone keeps telling me, "CuteJuice, you're the coolest person I know, we need to ban Draco Malfoid!", "CuteJuice, my favorite moderator, I'm sick of seeing this green freak all over my page!", "CuteJuice, I love you so much, why aren't you banning Draco Malfoy genderbends!". We have heard you and fret not, Hatethissmug citizens, we are trying something new.

Usually when faced with this sort of thing, as you've seen with Lesbian Space Princess and The Amazing Digital Circus, we outright ban these things. These things usually blow over in a week or two, and we repeal the ban. This time, we wanted to try something different. Instead of stopping conversations around it altogether, we want to try starting a mega-thread instead! This means people can continue to discuss things, but it won't clog everyone else's feed with the same few things over and over. New posts will be taken down and redirected here.

Of course, sub rules still apply. It'll get locked if people get too rowdy just like every other post, but we wanted to give this a try and see if it's a viable option moving forward. Please remain as respectful as possible, and if all goes well, we can try this moving forward with other trends as well rather than shutting them down completely!

Mod Post ANOTHER UPDATE TO RULE 5!

Post image
242 Upvotes

GREETINGS users of hatethissmug.

Today I bring you news of an update to our sub rules.

We have rewritten rule 5 again! Making it a more clear and adding more topics to the list!

With the rise of annoying gender war posts, we've made them completely banned, because most of these posts fall under the motte and bailey fallacy. They claim to be about one thing, but are actually the OP's way to hate on the opposing gender.

We've also expanded our politics rule! Topics such as israel or government decisions are gone! We get it, you hate the government, Dave Mustaine did it better.

Please adjust your post criteria and report the posts that break the new rule 5 that are newer than this post.

Thank you for using hatethissmug.

I HATE ALL OF YOU! šŸ”„ šŸ–¤ šŸ–¤ šŸ”„

Art & Fanworks When fat characters are drawn in a completely different art style

Thumbnail
gallery
3.2k Upvotes

1: Tomohiro Nagatsuka from A Silent Voice (looks like he’s from a kid’s anime)
2: (Flashback) Yuko Ozawa from Jujutsu Kaisen (she’s a realistic depiction but like too realistic… why are her eyes so small)

Besides from the fact that it alienates heavier characters (even when there is more to the character than them being fat), the inconsistency of the art style is just annoying. Fat Gum from My Hero Academia is sorta understandable since the art style allowed for varied designs, but the sources I chose from this post have a much more uniform art style, so it looks jarring when they draw one character super different.

Idea I hate the "N-Word Pass" (image related)

Post image
2.8k Upvotes

The fact that some white people say the n-word and then continue with "welp, actually i have a bazillion black friends and they allowed me to use it" is disgusting. No, even if you're not lying (and in 90% of cases they are), and you actually have a black friend that allows you to use it, that only means that you can use it only with them in private, because you know that it wont offend them (and some may say that even that is wrong). Just because your buddy "allowed" you to use the n-word doesnt mean that other black folks won't magically get offended by it. This version of spider-man is what those people that use the n-word pass excuse will see at their homes on the night of friday, march 26th 2027

Thing Restaurants using AI

Post image
9.1k Upvotes

If you're in a city nowadays, you're going to see OpenAI's trypophobic nightmare machine generating art in restaurants, food trucks, everywhere really. As someone who's really sensitive to this stuff, seeing it irl makes me feel like maggots are crawling in my skin. It makes you wonder if the ability to detect the uncanny is just not present in most people.

This actual artist is madelinehorwath on insta.

Idea People who think fans cool down a room (THEY DONT.)

Post image
2.7k Upvotes

EDIT: I've mistakenly expressed myself wrong, instead of "room" i mean Air in general. they can cool a room down by circulating air if a window is open, i know this, but they dont directly cool air so having them on in a tricky spot for circulating air or in a closed room its useless.

This is extremely specific but hear me out.

fans do NOT cool down a room, so stop wasting energy and keeping them on unless you have them pointed at you. A fan is only shooting air at you fast which makes it feel cold at touch, its not actually cooling down the air, that's what an AIR CONDITIONER does.

I would've never done this post if i didn't see so many people use them wrong, it got to a point where i literally had to make this post.

for example, there's been heatwaves here so, couple of weeks ago my parents asked me to turn on the fan in their room despite them not being in it., i had to explain to them that does nothing but wasting energy. I also noticed there's stores with fans pointing at nowhere and so i again i was wondering if people genuinely don't know (i know that some stores do this for people that walk around in the store but trust me that wasn't the case there.) And again i was watching videos online and saw a dude also just having the fan rotating for no reason.

Did you believe fans cool down the air?

  • no
  • yes (explain what you think now after knowing the truth.)

General When you were a kid and older relatives did this

Imagine this. You're playing swingball with your crayon eater little cousin. You're giving him a serious ass kicking. He's starting to snivel because he's losing so hard. You're really giving it everything you've got and you're giving the entire family BBQ a spectacle on your swingball prowess.

Your little cousin is about to burst into tears from the feeling of failiure and suddenly your uncle comes over. "Right, I think it's time to eat.... Lets say... next point wins?"

Your little cousin is ecstatic. Finally after his pitifully weak performance he rejoices at finally having a chance. You still effortlessly kick his ass for the 19th time.

Your uncle puts his hands on his hips and say "lets call that a draw". He celebrates and meanwhile you're left to simmer alone with the feeling of injustice.

Your entire performance is discredited by someone else imposing their rules upon your game.

THEY'RE SO INFURIATING AND DUMB AND THEY ARE THE EPITOME OF REDDITOR HUMOR, ANYONE WHO USES THESE IS A TROGLODYTE. HOW FAR ARE YOU ON THE NORWOOD SCALE TO INIRONICALLY THINK THIS IS FUNNY.

THE PEOPLE WHO USE THESE ARE ON THE SAME LEVEL AS FACEBOOK MOMS POSTING MINION MEMES, ITS THE SAME KINDA PEOPLE WHO USE "UPDOOT" OR "THANK YOU FOR THE GOLD KIND STRANGER"

The worst part is that they're CONSTANTLY spammed in threads and it drowns out any kinda discussion. The reaction images are worse when it just creates a giant chain of stupid redditor reaction images.

Meta I hate what the Internet did to Mac Tonight.

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

I usually don't post here, I just lurk, but this has really irked me. I hate the fate of Mac Tonight.

To me, this is one of the worst fates to happen to a fictional musician, and yet Mac Tonight is the ONLY one I know that this has happened to. Miku and other vocaloids still have relatively normal fan bases (except for Teto I don't know what the hell is up with her fanbase and hating rap... Actually most vocaloid fanbases don't have normal fanbases, but you can still REP THEM), there's a few other virtual idols that do as well, but NONE have been given the horrific fate of Mac Tonight.

If you don't know who Mac Tonight is, he's a McDonald's mascot from the late 80s and early 90s who was used to advertise McDonald's dinner and evening/late-night hours (starting around 6:30 PM), he had an animatronic, a costume, a whole musical number and everything.

And then years later, 4chan got ahold of him and turned him into a racist/alt-right symbol called Moon Man, and then there was the whole racist Doom mod with him in it, and now his reputation is tarnished and McDonald's might never touch this character ever again.

The whole reason I even made this post was because I changed my profile on discord to be themed around Mac Tonight, and one of the moderators on a server I frequent had questioned me on it, and I explained I just really like the character, plus I am melenated and mixed-race, they did not believe me and I got banned. I don't hate the mod for that, but it sucks that Mac has just been turned into a racist dogwhistle that you can't seem to enjoy and represent in any form on the Internet without people saying "Hey is that Moon Man?" AGHHHHH

HE WAS JUST COOL, WHY DID WE HAVE TO MAKE HIM A SYMBOL FOR RACISM!? WHY CAN'T I REP MY ENJOYMENT FOR A COOL MASCOT WITHOUT BEING ACCUSED OF BEING RIGHT WING AND RACIST?

Anime & Manga Adult Romance

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

This image is actually an example of an adult romance I enjoy. Anyway:

By adult romance, I don’t mean NSFW content. Rather, I’m referring to two adults who are romantically involved in an anime/manga.

I absolutely HATE when adults are depicted as bumbling children who can’t even hold a conversation with their partner. I understand that the whole ā€œembarrassed and awkwardā€ thing is a common trope in anime, I understand the reason it is there, but it doesn’t work for adults. I can brush it aside when they’re in a highschool setting but not for people who are working 9-5s.

The manga I included above (Dekai Usagi ni Natsukareta!?) is actually a prime example of what I want in an adult romance.

The characters talk things out. There’s no unnecessary drama or awkwardness. The male MC, who you’d think would be meek or avoidant of the FMC, is actually really open to her and goes out of his way to show he does want to be comfortable with her in the romantic sense.

It is SUCH a breath of fresh air.

But it also makes me hate other stories even more, because this is NOT a difficult story beat to use. This manga proves it and makes me wish others did as well.

Gaming I hate how quickly AI is defining the future of game development

Thumbnail
gallery
3.5k Upvotes

Was really looking forward to Drunken Goddess Reflux specifically but now it seems like we won't even get an inkling of content to look forward to until they decide to shadowdrop the full game.

People make me sick, we can't have anything nice in this world anymore. This is like that time travel idea everyone has, the one where someone wants to go back in time and pitch a popular idea that exists today first so they can take the credit and riches it eventually earns, BUT WITHOUT THE TIME MACHINE AND IT'S HAPPENING NOW.

As an aspiring game developer myself, this terrifies me. I've had ideas of doing things the Deltarune way where I could have things released in chapters, and others like releasing the first part as a pitch and then perhaps doing a Kickstarter to help expedite development (of course following through with the game regardless of its success, it would just grant the opportunity to really focus on things without the need to worry for other obligations as much), but not anymore.

You can't even pitch an idea or show a gameplay trailer anymore without the risk of someone stealing it and making their own, which has always been a thing, but can now be fully fleshed out within a matter of DAYS.

To anyone aspiring to create anything anymore, keep your ideas closely guarded and try to take any precaution to make sure your work is definitively tied to you.

Thing i hate when people think they're "based" for trying to make vegans mad

Thumbnail
gallery
605 Upvotes

ow wow congrats, you made a vegan pissed at you for very good reasons......are you supposed to be in the right here?

now look, i ain't vegan, i eat meat, i LOVE skewers and i probably would never quit eating meat unless somehow i built up the determination, and i say this, are there vegans that are annoying as hell? yes, are there vegan organizations that are genuinely buns and bring more harm to the world than good? absolutely, are the protests obnoxious sometimes? thats a fact, but does that justify you being arguably more of an asshole by doing this type of shit? no

like yeah, i'll be kinda annoyed if somebody is a little too preachy, even if the message they're spreading is a good message, they're good people, not wanting to eat animals isn't a bad thing, its a great thing, and even if i don't follow that lifestyle, i personally respect it a lot

now when you do this type of shit, you're being a genuine bum and making people who eat meat look like assholes, which only fuels more conflict, like "ohmygosh i fed a vegan real meat, i'm so fucking based and redpilled" "oh i brought an entire outback order and ate it in front of hundreds of vegans" no, you're not cool for doing that, you're a shithead who doesn't have anything better to do with your time

so look, whenever you see vegans talking about this stuff, regardless of how well they pass the message, just do whatever you want man, every community is gonna have annoying people, but you can't generalize and think its ok to inconvenience random people for it

Animation The character designs in One Piece are genuinely awful.

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

I genuinely hate One Piece character designs.

What’s most impressive is how wildly inconsistent the designs are in this series, going from one extreme to the other.

A character’s design can be legendary, like Xebec’s, or absolutely ridiculous, like Franky’s.

But the overwhelming majority of them are pretty bad. Like, really fucking bad.

Gaming I hate AI bros replicating indie games just to show off / make money

Post image
471 Upvotes

So this is a recent case, this game about hitting a wall until it breaks blew up on twitter, it's a silly and simple idea so people naturally liked it.

However, not even a DAY later the game got copied and vibecoded and now it's on roblox and making money out of kids.

THIS is why I hate AI as a whole (besides the cognitive degenerarion that it can produce), the fact that now no one can show an idea becouse there will be a random guy with a 200-500 dollar subscription which will make a random ass twitter post replicating your game and say "look what claude can do now, I'm definetly better than you becouse I use AI".

If this is truly the "future", then what is the point of doing anything?, I don't want to live in a time where creativeness has become private and ideas cannot be shared anymore.

Non-fictional I hate how "18" is treated as some kind of magical age number that makes someone mature, a fully grown adult and a "creep"

Thumbnail
gallery
214 Upvotes

This is just extremely ridiculous in my opinion.

And yes, it unfortunately happens online, you see people immediately putting "minors DNI" in their twitter (eew) profiles as soon as they turn 18 years old, or even people demanding to know your age to "make sure you are not a creep", even though there is no scientific correlation between being over 18 years old and immediately becoming being a "creep".

I saw someone say they would treat an 18 year old talking to a 17 year old the same as they would treat it if it was a 40 year old... Come on.

You are also not immediately mature at such an age, it is known that the brain does not even finish developing at 18 years of age.

I do not care if this is an "online-only" problem, I am still allowed to make a post about it.

General I HATE(this mug) when your in an argument and instead of admitting their wrong, the next thing the person does after running out of reasons is to just use your personal stuff against you

genuinely just makes me think we as a species can have an QI below zero

like is it that hard to just say your wrong? trust me its not gonna give me a ego boost after admitting waffles are better than pancakes

this goes for online stuff too like using your account as a way to attack your personally with things like dms, using videos youve recently made or using your privated account as a reason against the argument.

thank god i got mature people in my life that back up claims with evidence and not my insecurities

Thing I hate the "this person has passed" meme

Post image
3.0k Upvotes

Not only is this meme really old and overdone. It makes it so when a famous person actually does die, you HAVE to doubt it because it might just be one of these

Look, I get the Internet, I've grown up on it for better (and mostly for worse). I know people love pulling these kinds of gotcha things, and i understand the concept of engagement bai, i fully understand why people make these.

What I don't understand is how so many people upvote and support these kinds of posts. Again, especially now, with how old and overdone it is. Every influential person has had a dozen of these kinds of memes made of them.

Non-fictional I hate that people think flying cars would be good idea.

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

Look at at all the work air traffic controllers have to do to make sure things stay safe with the current air travel system and then multiply that by millions of drivers that are are curently on the road because now everyone has the ability to fly at will. Anyone who drives has seen what kind of drivers are on the road, do you really want that in the skies. Think about all the safety checks planes go through before they take off, the average person isn't doing that do there's a good chance that clunkers would just fall out of the sky. If flying cars were real and widely available we'd be dealing with a 9/11 every hour.

Idea I genuinely hate The N word and what it’s done to society

Post image
• Upvotes

That word has done literally nothing good for anyone in society ever.

For black people like myself it’s a slur that reminds people of slavery and the systematic oppression we faced and still face rn

For white people it’s an ā€œruin career!ā€ Button that they just can’t seem to stop walking on. I don’t even think all the ones who said it are racist, some were either ignorant, singing a song or just 14.

If I could I’d Thanos snap it out of existence. We’d all be better off without it, white and black.

General Are we really comparing musk to the wright brothers?

Post image
247 Upvotes

To even compare musk and the wright brothers is laughable. Musk doesn't do any of the engineering, the closest he gets is being able to regurgitate what he's been told on podcasts and twitter. The wright brothers largely designed it themselves.

And to equate the significance of the two, you need to be mentally underdeveloped. Everyone knows the significance of the wright brothers, but so much of the wright flyer had to be designed from scratch. Comparing this to the roadster is insulting.

The roadster demonstration conditions would have been exceptionally controlled to mitigate the effects of variables. The actual car used is also not what's going to enter production. There hasn't been any hard evidence that the roadster used isn't just a frame and shell.

The 3 things which are needed to do the circus trick are a pressure vessel, a valve, and a nozzle. None of these are novel, the idea of using a pressurised fluid to create a force is not new. The components used have also been ripped straight from spacex, they didn't need to design it for this application.

The hardest part of doing this is the control system. But again they would've been able to use a lot of what's already been done from spacex. It would just use a pid controller, a 3rd year engineering student would be able to do this.

This also provides quite literally no benefits at all. The reason why nobody has done it before is because it's fucking useless, it doesn't solve any problems. Yes body control is important in rocketry, but again it's something they've been able to do for decades, it isn't contributing anything new. It would only ever be slightly impressive if they were to have a full weight car, which they haven't done here

General Reupload having figured out the rules: I hate that you can’t use the word Hitler any more

Post image
106 Upvotes

I can’t stand Hitler, obviously, because I’m a thinking human being. But, just like ā€œgrapeā€ and ā€œsewerslideā€, the obsessive dumbing down of controversial words and names is just infuriating. Does not being able to say his name really help anyone? Is anyone who survived the horrors of the Second World War gonna look at the world today and think ā€œah well, it’s a bit rubbish but at least they’re not using these people’s names any more. That’s what’s really matters.ā€ It just infantilises and waters down what is a deeply serious and important topic in world history - makes it into a meme. Additionally, having just thought about it, I hate the people seem to think that he was the one actually leading the Wehrmacht in the war: I saw online the other day that people were listing Hitler as one of the greatest generals of all time. Like…

Gaming I hate Helldivers 2 modding (this title is ragebait so you go and read the body text)

I don't care what mods you use, I don't care what the fuck you do to the game. AS LONG AS YOU DO IT IN A PRIVATE LOBBY (or they're cosmetic). Call me fun police but:

What do you mean I don't like it when shitfuck219 full clears the map with the map-clearer-thingmadude-2890 or brings a "totally-balanced-eagle-mod" and turns the entire map in a ww1 battlefield in less than a minute? Like holy fuck, nothing in this game has ever took me out of it more than getting forcibly strapped to a cuck chair and watching the modder have his 20 minutes of fun because I dared play in a public lobby, and I fucking HATED the hive world update.

We can sit all day discussing what is and isn't balanced, but Arrowhead this and why Arrowhead that. Unless it's a very, very minor game-altering thing or a cosmetic just go play on a private lobby man. Just cause you can't play the easiest horde shooter ever invented doesn't mean I have to stand and watch you turn into a german wonder weapon with ai-vibe code nonsense

I've always hated this pick on venom. For me Venom should be slightly taller than spider-man, around 10 to 15 cm taller, not a 3meters long beast.

The best Venom size adaptations in my opinion are the PS1 version and maybe the 1994 series venom.

The Emotional Spectrum: Omori

It is a SHOCKINGLY common opinion I’ve seen that Omori gameplay boils down to rock paper scissors (Happy beats Angry, Sad Beats Happy, Angry beats Sad) with no strategy or variance.

This completely ignores that even the in-game tutorial paper you’re given (that also serves as EXTREMELY good foreshadowing) shows that the emotions have different effects on your stats as well.

The UNIVERSAL experience of a first time Omori player (or at least for me and all my friends) is trying to stack anger against happy and then getting one shot by a crit because happy increases you crit chance and speed and anger reduces your defense

This also is completely ignoring that there are moves not tied to the emotions system, and moves that have special effects connected to the emotion system that may even incentivize putting yourself at a disadvantage against a type for the buff they give

(The early game move ā€œStabā€ you get for Omori is a guaranteed crit and ignores defense if he’s sad, which can be really strong even against angry because of their lowered defense)

Looping: Dead by Daylight

It was an extremely common in-joke that Dead by Daylight gameplay boils down to two people chasing eachother around a rock for five minutes. At some point in the game’s ten year history however, this breached containment and seems to be the unironic popular take on the game from a majority of people, especially by other asymmetrical game players

DBD has a whole host of perks, techs, fakes, and strategies on both sides. So much intact it’s another extremely common in-joke in the community that even if you have hundreds of hours in the game you can still be a ā€œnoobā€ due to the sheer scale of everything inside

Builds: Skyrim

I’ll be the first person to say that Skyrim is by no means a perfect game, and I’m way more critical of it than the other two entries. But it drives me up a WALL whenever people say that the only viable build is the stealth archer build.

It’s like people turn their brains off and forget about every single other way to play simply because stealth archer is the easiest to get strong with.
