“If not president” like that wasn’t his title for the first 70 whatever years of his life.
151
u/KamakaziDemiGod 6h ago
Maybe he means if he hadn't become president he would have cosplayed a general so he can pretend he has power
And then would lead a revolution against American for not choosing him
32
u/mooninuranus 6h ago

21

They knew leftists would start calling them that, so they called them it first.
20
u/Vyzantinist 5h ago
Fun fact: Trump Derangement Syndrome was actually coined by a conservative to apply to other conservatives.
It was repurposed from Obama Derangement Syndrome, which was also coined by a conservative to apply to other conservatives.
ODS was also repurposed from Bush Derangement Syndrome, which didn't have the partisan connotations the latter two did/do.

Lmao that’s actually a hilarious point like if he didn’t become president at 72 he would have just gone ahead and started a career in the military and became a five star general at 73

I'm actually surprised they didn't include a Vietnam service ribbon, it's like they know what a draft dodging piece of shit Trump actually is.
57
u/cryptotope 5h ago
I'm pretty sure that the ribbon bars (like everything else in the picture) are just AI slop.
In that sense, the picture is wholly accurate--the only decorations that Trump has earned are imaginary.

Trump’s grandfather left Germany to avoid compulsory military service. The Trump family legacy in America is founded on cowardice.

Not just left. He tried to go back and they deported him for draft dodging.
Really just another entry in the book of grievances against the Germans. They could have kept Friedrich Drumpft and saved us a lot of headache.

I could be wrong, but there haven't been 5 star generals since World War II.

The last person promoted to 5 star was in 1950 Omar Bradley who died in 1981.
There's only been 5 ever.

It’s a quirk of European ranking systems. It was created to allow them to align with the top level generals of European allies during WW2. Didn’t need them before and haven’t needed them since.

Is it because the highest rank (at least in Britain) was Field Marshal?
→ More replies (1)10
u/Many-Salt-4321 4h ago
That's right. The US system top rank "General" was 4 star. UK (and other EU systems) had field marshal that outranked Generals. So the US added a 5 star "General of the Army" in 1944 to solve any issues with command hierarchy.
There is another rank "General of the Armies" which was created post-WW1 bestowed on Pershing for his service. They also posthumously promoted Grant in 2024 and George Washington in 1976 with the caveat that Washington's rank has "precedence over all other grades of the Army, past or present." This doesn't have any specific star insignia IIRC.
13
u/UnrealCanine 5h ago
The US can only promote to a 5-star during wartime, and hasn't declared war since WWII. Omar Bradley is an exception because when he was made Chairman of the Joint Cheifs of Staff, Douglas MacArthur would have been his subordinate and outranked him
→ More replies (2)3
u/ZoominAlong 5h ago
Its not a vote the way we vote for representatives. In the military, you earn it, kind of like a promotion at your job. General is also a rank during active enlistment, and specifically four star generals are only allowed to be 4 star during active enlistment , as it's attached to your office.
You can retire with the rank of General, but apparently not 4 stars.
3
u/Cultural-Treacle-680 5h ago
They can have their 4 star duty certified for retirement or something but it isn’t guaranteed.
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (2)5
u/ZoominAlong 6h ago
You're not wrong. Eisenhower was our last 5 star and he was an admiral if I remember correctly (if you're a WWII military buff, feel free to correct this if I got it wrong.)
9
3
u/Cultural-Treacle-680 5h ago
Nimitz, Halsey, King and Leahy were the only 4 WWII five star admirals.
51
u/cryptotope 6h ago
Given that the ribbons on the ribbon rack appear to be AI slop rather than real medals, and the shoulder boards don't match the usual U.S. pattern (with five stars in a pentagonal pattern, not a straight line)--yeah, this seems like a pretty accurate representation.
Trump is all about sloppy make-believe and stolen valor. Donald Trump would definitely be a five-star general...for Halloween.
13

u/TheAsianTroll 4h ago

Best question... So why wasn't he? If the premise is that if he hadn't been president he would be a 5 star general. He didn't become president until he was 70. He wasn't in the military at all. So what was the expectation, that if he was to lose the presidential election, he would have joined the military for the first time at 70 and immediately become the highest rank you can get?
I know this is a magat but it is always shocking to see what their fevered brains will come up with.
In no world does this happen. It's harder to do this than to become president and would take a lifetime of actual work.

"Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past" -Sartre
He's speaking to anti-Semitism specifically, but it kind of works for all fascists and all fascist arguments.
